Police in Uganda have arrested four key suspects in connection with the brutal murder and aggravated robbery of one Patricia Kokunda, who was gunned down in the early hours of April 3, 2026 in Soroti City, in the Eastern part of the country.
According to the Uganda Police Force, the attack occurred at around 4:40am at Teso Coach Park along Station Road near Goalman Supermarket.
Armed assailants reportedly ambushed Kokunda, robbing her before fatally shooting her in a brazen act that shocked the local community.
In the days following the killing, investigators, working alongside other security agencies, launched an intensified manhunt that quickly yielded results.
Two suspects, identified as Alex Okello and Felix Onego, were apprehended on the same day as the incident. Subsequent operations led to the arrest of Simon Epeu, also known as Iboda, in Anyara, Kalaki District, where authorities recovered seven million Ugandan shillings believed to be linked to the robbery.
Police say a major breakthrough came on April 4, 2026, with the arrest of Alfred Elacu in Orungo, Amuria District.
He is suspected to be the gunman who carried out the fatal shooting. Investigators have also recovered the victim’s smartphone, which had been discarded in a bush in Kichinjani, further strengthening the case against the suspects.
Authorities indicate that investigations are still ongoing as efforts continue to recover additional evidence and establish the full circumstances surrounding the crime.
