As the nomination exercise for the Local Council I (LC I) and Women Council elections gathers momentum across the country, several candidates have declared their interest in contesting for various leadership positions.
Among them is Hajjati Nassuna Rehema, 45, who was on July 16, 2026, nominated by Kawempe Division Parish Elections Officer Musa Nsubuga to contest for the position of Women Council I Chairperson for Nalwewuba Zone in Mulago II Parish, Kawempe Division, on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party ticket.
Nassuna, an educationist by profession, has pledged to transform Nalwewuba Zone by building strong working relationships with key national leaders, including Kawempe South Member of Parliament Madinah Nsereko, to lobby for projects and programmes that will accelerate the area’s socio-economic development.
She said that, if elected, one of her priorities will be to encourage parents to keep their children in school while mobilising young people to enrol at the nearby Mulago Presidential Initiative on Skilling the Girl/Boy Child, where they can acquire vocational skills free of charge.
Nassuna also appealed to residents of Nalwewuba Zone to entrust her with leadership, promising to champion the effective implementation of government programmes and initiatives aimed at improving livelihoods within the community.
