The quiet of Kisutwa Village was broken by a disturbing discovery that left residents searching for answers.
Along the feeder road linking Kiboga, Ntwetwe and Nkoko in Kyankwanzi District, a woman’s body lay abandoned, turning an ordinary day into a scene of grief, uncertainty and unanswered questions.
On July 14, 2026, residents of Kisutwa Village in Gayaza Sub-county came across the lifeless body and immediately alerted local leaders.
The village chairperson, Charles Sempijja, reported the matter to Gayaza Police Station at about 10:30am, prompting a swift response from law enforcement authorities.
The Kyankwanzi District Police Command dispatched a homicide team to the scene, where investigators carefully examined the area, documented findings and recorded statements from people who could provide information about the mysterious incident.
Police said the deceased was an adult woman believed to be in her twenties. She was found wrapped in whitish bed sheets and had no identification documents, leaving investigators with the difficult task of establishing who she was and how she ended up abandoned on the roadside.
A preliminary assessment by the scene of crime officers did not reveal visible signs of physical violence.
The Wamala Region Police spokesman, Lameck Kigozi said the circumstances surrounding her death remain unclear, and investigations are continuing to establish the events that led to the discovery.
Investigators are also following leads suggesting that the woman could have died at a private health facility before her body was abandoned.
Authorities are working to verify this information as they piece together the final moments of her life.
Her remains were transported by police to the mortuary at Ntwetwe Health Centre IV, where they will be preserved as efforts continue to identify her and provide answers to the questions surrounding her death.
For residents of Kisutwa, the discovery has left a painful mystery behind.
Police are appealing to anyone who may recognize the deceased or have information that could help identify her or clarify what happened to come forward and assist with the investigation.
