The President of the Mothers Union in Namirembe Diocese, Church of Uganda, Roseline Biingi Kawiso, has called for financial support to help complete the construction of their multi-storey commercial complex.
The facility is intended to generate income to fund various charitable initiatives, including education for vulnerable children, water and sanitation projects across districts, and healthcare campaigns, among others.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with this website at their Namirembe-based headquarters yesterday, Kawiso said the Union is mobilizing public support to raise funds for the multi-billion-shilling project.
She revealed that a fundraising marathon has been organized to support the completion of the first phase of the project. The marathon is scheduled for June 7, 2025.
Kawiso encouraged members of the public to purchase a marathon kit at UGX 25,000 as a contribution toward the project. The proceeds will help meet various financial needs of the church.
“We are undertaking a commercial complex project, including a building adjacent to Namirembe Cathedral, aimed at boosting income through office spaces, a conference hall, shops, a day care centre, and a hotel, among other facilities,” Kawiso said.
