MTN Uganda and partners have today taken 2026 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign to Kibiito Health Centre IV in Bunyangabu District, Western Uganda, to support maternal and newborn healthcare.

The intervention comes as Uganda continues to prioritise stronger frontline care to reduce preventable deaths among mothers and newborns.

Held on August 6 and 7, the two-day activity brought together MTN employees, district leaders, healthcare workers, community members and partners to deliver services at the facility.

Activities included a community health camp offering screening, registration and health education; EMRIS training for medical records officers; digital literacy sessions for Village Health Teams and community health workers; financial literacy sessions by MTN MoMo; and tree planting.

Bunyangabu is the first of four health facility engagements under MTN Uganda’s 2026 21 Days of Y’ello Care campaign, themed “Expand Equitable Health for Every Community.”

Backed by more than UGX 600 million, the campaign will also support Maddu Health Centre IV in Gomba District, Kiyunga Health Centre IV in Luuka District and Karita Health Centre IV in Amudat District.

Speaking at Kibiito Health Centre IV, Franklin Kano Ocharo, General Manager, Growth and New Business at MTN Uganda, said Y’ello Care reflects the company’s commitment to using technology, partnerships and employee volunteerism to address community needs.

“Y’ello Care is about more than spending a few days in a community. It is about helping to strengthen the systems, skills and services that enable mothers, newborns and families to access timely, quality care,” Ocharo said.

The Bunyangabu District Health Officer Dr. Richard Obeti welcomed the partnership, saying practical support at facility level is critical to improving maternal and newborn health outcomes.

“When health facilities are supported with digital systems, trained teams and community awareness, we are better able to serve mothers and children at the point where they need care most,” he said.

Ocharo said the campaign builds on MTN Uganda’s long-term support for the country’s healthcare system.

“Over the past decade, MTN Uganda has invested more than Shs7.5 billion in maternal and newborn health programmes, supporting 36 health facilities across 49 districts and reaching more than one million beneficiaries. These efforts are part of our commitment to building stronger and more resilient communities,” he said.

In the coming weeks, the campaign will continue at Maddu, Kiyunga and Karita health centres, extending support for maternal and child health, digital literacy and community empowerment.

Now in its 19th year, 21 Days of Y’ello Care is MTN Group’s employee volunteerism initiative, through which employees across its markets dedicate their time, skills and expertise to addressing social challenges in the communities where they operate.

Partners in the campaign includes; Ministry of Health, Other partners supporting the campaign include the Ministry of Health, United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Exquisite Solution Limited, Uganda Blood Transfusion Service, Clinic Pesa, GHE Consulting, UNIFI and Maendeleo Foundation.
