Amolatar / Dokolo – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on October 1, 2025 continued his presidential campaign trail in the Lango Sub-region with massive rallies in Amolatar and Dokolo districts, where he was hailed for the peace, development, and wealth creation programs his government has steered over the years.

The rallies drew thousands of enthusiastic supporters who gathered to hear the NRM flag bearer unpack the party’s 2026–2031 Manifesto under the theme Protecting the Gains.

In Amolatar, the NRM district chairperson, Kamilo Olwit, praised President Museveni for transforming Northern Uganda, citing peace, development, and wealth creation as the key pillars of progress.

“The seeds you are planting here today will germinate and spread to all parts of Uganda. As Amolatar and as Northern Uganda, we are protecting three fundamental gains under your leadership. The first is peace. You fought the LRA, you fought Alice Lakwena, you stopped cattle rustling, and today there is lasting peace. The second is development—Lango needed a university, you gave us one. We needed Akii-Bua Stadium, it is under construction. You have also worked on key roads like Apac–Lira–Kamdini, and soon the Amolatar road will follow. The third gain is wealth creation.

From the same platform, the NRM second Vice Chairperson (Female) and the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Annet Anita Among, lauded the President for restoring peace and enabling economic activity in Northern Uganda.

“Your Excellency, in the past it would take us one week just to travel to Soroti because of insecurity. Today, thanks to you, Uganda is peaceful. We thank you for restoring peace and empowering the people of Northern Uganda to work for their own prosperity.”

When he rose to address the crowd, President Museveni reminded the people of Amolatar that infrastructure, schools, health centers, and modern communication are all fruits of development (dongo lobo), but warned that poverty persists unless households embrace wealth creation (lonyo).

He explained that at Independence only 9% of Ugandan homes were engaged in the money economy, with the majority producing only for subsistence.

“Even by 2013, 68% of families were still stuck there. That’s why I started Operation Wealth Creation and later the Parish Development Model. Already, the number outside the money economy has reduced. But everyone must join wealth creation so that poverty is defeated in every household. Dongo lobo is good, but what really matters is lonyo, your own wealth.”

The President also pledged to increase teachers by 50,000 to eliminate shortages in government schools, abolish illegal school charges, and strengthen the PDM by rooting out corruption, including theft of government drugs.

Later in Dokolo, Museveni again emphasized the distinction between infrastructure development and household wealth creation.

He announced that the government would upgrade the road from Dokolo to Namasale, cutting direct mileage to Kampala.

“This is all dongo lobo—roads, schools, electricity. But the real battle is lonyo. Even in Baralege where I live, I may not have tarmac roads, but I have wealth-cows, coffee, fruits. That is what we want for every homestead: wealth for food and income.”

The President illustrated the impact of the PDM with testimonies of local farmers like Apio Piki of Lira District, who turned a small investment in maize into millions of shillings and expanded into livestock.

“She told me she had never handled one million shillings in her life, yet now through farming she has bought land and animals. This is what PDM is about, empowering households to move into the money economy.”

At both rallies, Hamson Obua, the NRM Vice Chairperson for Northern Uganda, and Richard Todwong, the NRM Secretary General, hailed the President for bringing peace and socio-economic development to the region, noting that the NRM government’s track record of transformation continues to inspire hope and confidence among the people.

The President will continue his campaign in other districts of the Lango Sub-region tomorrow, rallying communities to consolidate the peace and development achieved under NRM while embracing wealth creation as the surest path to prosperity.
