MUKONO, Uganda: The Namilyango College Old Boys Association (NACOBA) has pledged to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders to modernize the school’s sports complex.
Speaking to media, NACOBA President Mr. Cornelius Henry Mukiibi said the initiative aligns with the association’s strategic master plan, which prioritizes the promotion of sports at the college.
He explained that the association is committed to mobilizing resources to support the college’s development agenda by encouraging old boys to actively participate in scheduled income-generating activities as a way of giving back to their alma mater.
“Our aim is to ensure that the sports promotion agenda receives the attention it deserves under the talent identification program, which seeks to empower more students to effectively represent the college at all levels of competition,” Mukiibi said.
“We are determined to utilize available resources to help Namilyango regain its sports glory. This will be achieved through identifying and nurturing talent, and preparing students for competitive sports,” he added.

NACOBA plans to transform the college’s vast land designated for sports into a state-of-the-art complex featuring facilities for football, basketball, badminton, rugby, chess, table tennis, and lawn tennis, among others.
According to Mukiibi, the development will position the college as an international talent identification center, with the potential to market Uganda as an emerging hub for sports talent.
He called upon all stakeholders—including corporate companies, private organizations led by old boys, and individuals with a passion for Namilyango—to support the initiative by participating in income-generating activities such as the NACOBA sports gala.
In a separate interview, the college headmaster, Mr. Constantine Sajabbi Mpuuga, emphasized the urgent need for resources to implement key projects. Among these is the Peregrine Kibuuka Endowment Fund, which aims to support bright but financially disadvantaged students.
“Some of these beneficiaries are continuing students whose parents may have passed on due to untimely death, accidents, or physical incapacitation. It is important that we support them to complete their education,” he noted.
He commended NACOBA for mobilizing old boys to respond to such needs and encouraged them to give back to the institution that contributed to their success.
Mpuuga also appreciated the Board of Governors and the Parents-Teachers Association (PTA) for their continued support, which has enabled the school to implement key projects, including the construction of a new boys’ dormitory complex, walkways, installation of security cameras, fencing, and improvements to the sports grounds drainage system.
