The National Resistance Movement (NRM) on Wednesday intensified its nationwide grassroots mobilisation campaign, with Village Barazas across the Teso Sub-region drawing strong participation as party members prepared for the Village Women’s Council elections and the upcoming LC I chairperson polls.
The meetings, held in several districts, focused on strengthening village structures, verifying party registers, popularising NRM flag bearers, and rallying members to participate in the elections scheduled for July 23 and July 28.

In Soroti City, party members convened at Obute A Cell, Arapai Primary School, where Soroti City NRM Women’s League Chairperson Rachel Francis Adyango urged members to elect committed NRM LC I chairpersons capable of working closely with Women’s Councils to ensure communities benefit fully from government programmes.
In Kumi District, Village Barazas and mobilisation meetings were held in Wulo, Asinge, Okutot and other villages across Tisai Sub-county.

NRM leaders and flag bearers pledged to strengthen grassroots leadership, promote unity, and enhance access to government programmes.

District reports indicated particularly strong mobilisation in Ogooma and Kumi sub-counties, while several villages used the meetings to orient LC I flag bearers on the electoral process.
Amuria District also recorded active participation, with leaders in Awojangur Village calling on members to remain united and rally behind NRM candidates in the forthcoming elections. Similar messages encouraging unity, participation, and support for party structures were echoed across the district.
In Kaberamaido District, many villages successfully held Barazas, allowing members to discuss election preparedness and confirming that facilitation had reached village structures.

Although a few meetings were postponed because of market days, burials, and other official engagements, local leaders committed to completing the remaining Barazas before polling day.
Across the Teso Sub-region, party leaders described the meetings as instrumental in consolidating grassroots support, strengthening village leadership, and preparing members for the electoral exercise.
The Village Barazas are part of the NRM’s nationwide grassroots mobilisation campaign taking place in more than 72,000 villages across Uganda as the party strengthens its structures ahead of the village elections.
