A wave of coordinated, intelligence-driven night operations by the Kampala Metropolitan Police and the UPDF has dealt a significant blow to suspected criminal networks operating across Wakiso District, authorities revealed.
The first strike came on April 14, 2026 when security teams descended on Mayirikiti Zone in Buwambo Ward, Kasangati Town Council.
Acting on gathered intelligence, officers arrested Owor Isaac, widely known by his alias “Mbolimboli,” a man investigators describe as a notorious figure and the alleged ringleader of the feared “Kasolo” gang.

Police believe he has been orchestrating a string of house break-ins and robberies stretching along the Matugga–Kasangati–Kawempe corridor, an area that has seen a spike in such crimes in recent months.
According to the Deputy Kampala Metropolitan police spokesman, Luke Owoyosigyire , several individuals suspected to be part of his network were also taken into custody during the operation.
Just two days later, in the early hours of April 16, 2026 another operation unfolded under the cover of darkness in Buwate, Najjera II, within Kira Municipality.
At around 3:30am security forces swept through identified hotspots long associated with narcotics activity.
Eight suspects were arrested in the raid, with officers recovering substances believed to be marijuana.
The suspects have since been charged with possession of narcotic drugs and are being held at Kira Division Police Station as investigations continue.
Police say these back-to-back operations are part of a broader, sustained campaign to dismantle criminal groups and restore a sense of safety in affected communities.
Authorities are also urging residents to remain vigilant and continue sharing information that could aid ongoing investigations.
Owoyesigyire emphasized that similar intelligence-led operations will persist as security agencies tighten their grip on crime in the region.
