Kampala Metropolitan Police, working alongside sister security agencies, carried out a coordinated intelligence-led crackdown across parts of Kira Municipality, Kajjansi Town Council, and Kira Road Police Division, leading to the arrest of 37 suspects linked to suspected criminal activity.
The two-day operation, conducted on May 13 and 14, 2026 targeted areas that security officials described as known crime hotspots, including Kiyinda, Bulindo Kiwologoma, Lweza, Nakigalala, Seguku, Kulambiro, and Tuba.
According to police, the locations had reportedly become gathering points for individuals suspected of abusing narcotic substances and organizing criminal activities such as burglary and theft.
In a released issued by the Deputy area police spokesman, Luke Owoyesigyire, during the raids, officers recovered exhibits including suspected marijuana, dry plant materials, and playing cards believed to have been used in illegal gatherings.
All suspects remain in custody at various police stations as authorities carry out screening, fingerprinting, and preparations for prosecution.
He described the operation as successful, saying it is part of an ongoing campaign to curb rising criminal activity and strengthen public safety across the Kampala Metropolitan area.
