A fault at the Inkenda 132 KV substation on Monday caused widespread electricity outages affecting Fort Portal and parts of Kabarole, Ntoroko, Bundibugyo, Kagadi, Kyenjojo, Hoima, Masindi, and Kiryandongo districts, officials confirmed.
Jonan Kiiza, Head of Corporate and Stakeholder Affairs at Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL), thanked residents for their patience during the outage.
“We appreciate the calm and understanding shown by the public as our sister agency, UETCL, worked tirelessly to restore power,” he said.
He confirmed that power has now been fully restored in Fort Portal, Kagadi, Kyenjojo, Hoima, Masindi, and Kiryandongo.
He urged communities to continue demonstrating patience as authorities work to stabilize the national electricity grid.
