Kakiri Police Station in Wakiso district has apprehended two individuals in relation to accusations of cattle theft that occurred on September 10, 2025, at 2 am in Bembe Nansiiti village, located in Namayumba subcounty.
The individuals currently in police custody are: Mulindwa Apollo, 27 years old, a casual laborer living in Buloba and Sali Frank, 20 years old, a boda boda operator from Bukerekere village, Kakiri.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan police spokesman, Patrick Onyango, there has been a surge in cattle thefts in areas such as Kakiri, Namayumba, and Masulita.
He noted that on October 10, 2025, at approximately 2 am, a surprise checkpoint along the Kampala-Hoima road, led by police and supported by UPDF personnel from the Kikandwa detachment, stopped a motorcycle with the registration number UDN 177Y at Nampunge trading center.
The two suspects were found transporting six partially butchered goats in sacks.
They were taken taken into custody.
Onyango said evidence was seized, including six goats, a knife, sacks, and blue plastic bags used to conceal the goats, while the motorcycle (UDN 177Y) was confiscated.
The goats were skinned, with their heads removed and most internal organs taken out.
During questioning, the suspects admitted to stealing the goats from Bembe Nansiiti village with the intention of selling them in Kisenyi, Kampala.
He said the operation is part of ongoing intelligence-driven initiatives aimed at reducing crime in the area.
