KAMPALA, Uganda – The Vice President of Uganda, H.E. Rtd Maj. Jessica Alupo has today officially been nominated to contest as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) flag bearer for the Katakwi District Woman Member of Parliament in the upcoming party primaries.
The nomination ceremony took place at the NRM Electoral Commission offices on Plot 13 in Kampala.
Alupo was duly nominated by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson in the presence of all commissioners and the NRM Secretary General, Rt. Hon. Richard Todwong.
Vice President Alupo, will now seek to retain her position as the Katakwi Woman MP under the NRM party ticket—a seat she has previously held with distinction.
She was nominated alongside other senior government officials, including the Minister of Security, Maj. Gen. (Rtd) Jim Muhwezi, and the State Minister for Ethics and Integrity, Hon. Lilly Akello.
Although official nominations for NRM parliamentary flag bearers are scheduled to begin next week, the trio received early clearance due to conflicting official state duties that will prevent them from appearing during the regular nomination period.
NRM Secretary General Richard Todwong commended the nominees for their service and commitment to both the party and the country.
He emphasized the importance of unity and discipline during the party’s primary election process.
With the nominations now confirmed, H.E. Alupo and her colleagues are set to begin their campaigns within their respective constituencies.
