Women clients with Equity Bank Uganda have celebrated their 2025 International Women’s Day on a light note as the Bank hosted them to a free financial literacy workshop, exhibition, awards and closing the event with a sumptuous luncheon in appreciation for the close relationship.
The event named ‘Abakyala Ku Ntikko’ trended under the theme ‘’ Celebrating Action for prosperity in businesses’ took place today 13th March 2025 at the Lugogo based UMA multipurpose hall which was attended by over 600 participants.
The keynote speaker was the former Mityana district woman MP Hon.Sylivia Namabidde Ssinabulya who challenged the women to venture into different businesses and as well try out new ones in their quest to diversify and expand their enterprises.
“Do not focus on one thing, it is important to multi-task. Venture into different businesses and try out new things, it is important to have multiple income streams for better growth of your businesses’ noted Namabidde who also doubles as director of St. Elizabeth Girls School Mityana.
She highlighted the many challenges women in business face including lack of access to collateral for loans, markets, land and strategic digital business marketing skills as well as lack of Networks among others.
She thanked Equity Bank leadership for always standing out with the women in business by offering them affordable financial solutions to their business projects.
The Bank managing director Gift Shoko said the event was a demonstration that women mean what they do, and they do what they mean which makes them unique human beings who command strong respect among their clients.
‘This huge attendance means that women have a deep interest in our work as a Bank which development gives us encouragement to continue doing even more for them’ he observed.
“We highly value the contribution of women, not only as a bank but also in society. At Equity Bank, our female employees are just above 50% of our total headcount. Our next goal is to ensure at least 50 % of the leadership is also female led.”

Those awarded streaming from their 23 branches across the country include Nankabirwa Winnie Rose from Kajjansi,as most consistent micro-saver,Carol Saali as good borrower, and Rukundo Hellen as best supporter respectively.
Others are Gertrude Ndagire,Amoit Safi and Nandyose Victoria among others.
