Kampala, June 11, 2025 — The Ministry of Health has dismissed claims circulating on social media suggesting a resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Uganda.
In an official statement released today, the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Joseph Olaro, emphasized that there is no resurgence of COVID-19 and the national situation remains stable and fully under control, following the major outbreak that occurred three years ago.
Dr. Olaro clarified that the alarming messages currently making rounds are old clips being re-shared by unscrupulous individuals with the intention of misleading the public.
“The Ministry of Health wishes to clarify recent media reports suggesting a resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the country. The circulating messages are old clips being re-shared by unscrupulous individuals to mislead members of the public,” the statement reads.
The Ministry urges the public to remain calm, stay informed through official channels, and avoid spreading unverified information.
