Hakim Wamala , a 41-year-old resident of Kalagi Village, Kyampisi Subcounty in Mukono District, was arraigned before Nakifuma Chief Magistrate’s Court today on charges of incitement to violence and misuse of social media.
The charges follow a TikTok video allegedly recorded and shared by Wamala November 9, 2025 via his account, @hakiqualitypropertyandconstruction.
In the video, he is accused of making statements intended to encourage members of the public to commit acts of violence using dangerous weapons such as pangas and spears.
According to statement issued by Luke Owoyesigyire, the Deputy Public Relations Officer, Kampala Metropolitan, Wamala was also charged with spreading false and malicious information claiming that presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, was in danger, an act authorities say could incite fear and provoke unlawful actions among citizens.
During the court session, Hakim was formally charged and remanded pending the next mention of his case.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police reminded the public that using social media to spread falsehoods or incite violence is a criminal offence under Ugandan law.
Authorities emphasized that the police continue to monitor online activity and will take firm action against individuals who misuse digital platforms to threaten public safety.
