KAMPALA, Uganda (UGNEWSLINE) – MTN Uganda and Central Broadcasting Service (CBS FM), Radio y’Obwakabaka, have launched a three-year partnership under the theme Tukula Ffena, meaning “We all grow together.” The partnership brings together MTN, CBS and the wider Buganda Kingdom ecosystem around cultural participation, audience engagement and shared opportunities for communities.
Under the partnership, MTN Uganda becomes the Official Sponsor of Entanda and Enkuuka, two established cultural properties that bring people together through Buganda’s heritage, traditions, knowledge and celebrations. The collaboration aims to strengthen their continued growth while creating more opportunities for audiences and communities to participate and engage.
A key addition is Entanda Corporate Edition, which will provide a platform for businesses, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Buganda, to take part in Entanda, engage with audiences and contribute to the Kingdom’s outreach in partnership with MTN.
Speaking at the launch, MTN Uganda Chief Executive Officer Sylvia Mulinge said the partnership reflects a shared ambition to create opportunities and strengthen connections across communities.
“Tukula Ffenna, meaning ‘We all grow together,’ is the guiding idea for this partnership. It reflects the aspiration that collectively, MTN, CBS, the Buganda Kingdom ecosystem, communities and participating stakeholders can all benefit from sustained collaboration. The theme is inspired by MTN Uganda’s belief that Together, We’re Unstoppable in our shared pursuit to be better as families, communities and as a country,” Mulinge said.
She added that Entanda and Enkuuka provide important platforms for cultural learning, participation and celebration, and that MTN looks forward to supporting their continued growth while exploring opportunities for connectivity and digital services to strengthen cultural engagement and audience access.
The partnership also builds on the wider relationship involving MTN Uganda, MTN MoMo, CBS and the Buganda Kingdom. This includes support for road safety awareness and fundraising for the Accident, Injury and Trauma Centre at Nkozi Hospital through the Kaliisoliiso Dinner initiative. These efforts reflect a shared interest in mobilising communities around important social priorities.
Michael Kawooya Mwebe, Managing Director of CBS said:
“This partnership brings together two brands with a shared commitment to community empowerment, culture and heritage. By combining CBS’s broadcasting reach with MTN’s communications infrastructure and digital capabilities, we aim to create opportunities for young people and women, support wealth creation and preserve Buganda’s heritage through digital platforms. We are committed to working hand in hand with MTN to deliver tangible benefits to the people of Buganda and make ‘Tukula Ffenna’ a lived reality across the Kingdom.”
The partnership was launched in the presence of Her Royal Highness Nnaalinya Lubuga Dr Catherine Agnes Nabaloga, who attended as Guest of Honour. In her remarks, she recognised the partnership as an important opportunity to preserve and celebrate Uganda’s cultural heritage while using it to drive socio-economic transformation, particularly for young people. She called on MTN Uganda and CBS to translate their shared commitment into visible benefits for communities, noting that collaboration between the two partners could support the Buganda Kingdom’s development agenda and make Tukula Ffenna a model for shared growth.
Through this collaboration, MTN Uganda and CBS aim to build on the cultural significance of Entanda and Enkuuka while exploring opportunities to deepen audience engagement through digital platforms and services. Guided by Tukula Ffena, the partnership provides a platform for continued collaboration around cultural relevance, participation and shared growth.
