Kampala, Uganda — Pearl Bank has continued its remarkable streak of achievements in 2025, earning the Banking Services General Banking Accolade at the 2025 Financial Reporting (FiRe) Awards. The event was held under the theme “Sustainability Practices and Reporting in Uncertain Global Times.”
The FiRe Awards, introduced in 2011 by the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) in partnership with the Capital Markets Authority (CMA) and the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE), recognize organizations that exemplify excellence in financial reporting.
The awards promote transparency, integrity, and accountability, while encouraging adherence to financial reporting standards and best practices in corporate governance.
Commenting on the win, Mr. Peter Ssenyange, Chief Financial Officer at Pearl Bank, noted that the FiRe Awards provide a vital platform for institutions to evaluate their performance and benchmark against industry peers.
“These awards hold us accountable not only as advocates for best practices in financial reporting but as practitioners. They allow us to showcase our performance and share critical information with shareholders and stakeholders who play a key role in our growth,” said Ssenyange.
He extended appreciation to the bank’s management, finance team, and stakeholders for their continued support and contribution to the bank’s success.
In his remarks, CPA Timothy David Ediomu, President of ICPAU, emphasized the role of strong professional foundations in advancing Uganda’s financial reporting landscape.
“Since their inception in 2011, the FiRe Awards have served a noble purpose—to enhance the quality of financial and business reporting in Uganda. The Awards encourage organizations to go beyond compliance and to tell their stories holistically, demonstrating how financial decisions align with broader societal goals,” said Ediomu.
Prof. Aaron Mushengyezi, Vice Chancellor of Uganda Christian University and Chief Guest at the ceremony, congratulated all the winners and commended ICPAU, CMA, and USE for championing initiatives that promote excellence in financial reporting.
Pearl Bank’s recognition at the FiRe Awards follows other notable 2025 achievements, including CFO of the Year and the Sustainability Award, both won by Mr. Ssenyange at the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Awards. In October, the Bank also received a Sustainability Certification in Germany, underscoring its progress in advancing the sustainability agenda under its five-year strategic plan.
As Pearl Bank continues its transition from PostBank, it remains committed to implementing its strategic goals Driving Sustainable Financial Inclusion and Stimulating Entrepreneurship and Service all aligned with its purpose of Fostering Prosperity for Ugandans.
