KAMPALA, Uganda : The Annual General Assembly of the Uganda Muslim Teachers Association (UMTA) has re-elected Hajji Mpungu Musa Musoke and Hajjati Mastulah Nsigo Nankya as president and vice president respectively for a second term, in recognition of their active role in strengthening collaboration between the association and key education stakeholders.
This was announced during the association’s 34th Annual General Meeting and convention held at Kawempe Muslim Secondary School, which was attended by more than 1,000 delegates.
Hajjati Mastulah Nsigo Nankya was re-elected vice president, while Hajjati Zulaika Kibirige was elected treasurer. Other members elected to the executive committee include Hajjati Aisha Namaganda Ntege, Janet Namujuzi, Hadijah Tukahirwa, Munduga Muzamil, Ssebunya Musa, and Hajji Serugo Muhammad Ali.
In their collective acceptance speech, delivered by the incoming president Hajji Mpungu Musa Musoke, the leaders pledged to build a stronger stakeholder engagement network to advance the aspirations of the association.
Mpungu said the association will focus on strengthening the professional capacity of Muslim teachers through continuous professional development and training sessions aimed at preparing them for future leadership responsibilities.
He thanked teachers for entrusting them with the new mandate and also appreciated the government for maintaining a cordial working relationship with the association for the benefit of the education sector.
Mpungu is the immediate former headmaster of Masaka Secondary School, while Nsigo is the current headmistress of Nakaloke Secondary School.
